Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Plantbase ("we", "our", or "us") is a houseplant care tracking app. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Account information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique user ID from that provider and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address. Email addresses are only stored if the provider has verified them.
- Plant data: The plants you add, including names, species, care schedules, notes, and photos.
- Care logs: Records of watering, fertilising, and other care activities you log.
- Push notification token: Your device token, used solely to send you care reminders you configure.
- Timezone: Used to send notifications at the time you choose.
How we use your data
- To provide the Plantbase service — storing your plants and care history.
- To send push notifications for plant care reminders (only if you enable them).
- To share a household view with people you invite.
- To diagnose crashes and errors in order to improve the app's stability.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do not share your data with anyone outside your household, except as described below.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate Plantbase:
- Cloudflare — Our API, database, and file storage run on Cloudflare's infrastructure. All data is processed within Cloudflare's network. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Sentry — We use Sentry for crash reporting and error monitoring. When the app crashes or encounters an error, Sentry automatically collects diagnostic information including the error details, device model, operating system version, and app version. Sentry does not receive your plant data, photos, or personal information. See Sentry's privacy policy.
- Apple / Google — Sign-in is handled by Apple or Google. We receive only what those providers share with us during authentication.
Data storage
Your data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Plant photos are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage. All data is associated with your household and is only accessible to household members.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Sessions expire automatically after 90 days of inactivity.
Deleting your data
You can delete individual plants and care logs within the app. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at support@getplantbase.com and we will remove it within 30 days.
